Out Of The Fire

Karna's Testimony

Through His Eyes

Return Home

God is still in the business of doing miracles and I am proof of that fact.

I was diagnosed at age 60 in 2001 with cardiomyopathy and ventricular arrhythmia. I did well with meds and a pacemaker/defibrilator for 2 years, after which I experienced a decline and my cardiologist recommended that I consider a heart transplant.

In August 2003, I went to Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago in a wheel chair with difficulty breathing, eating and walking. I was admitted to the Heart Failure unit where I stayed 2 weeks during which time they took 27 lb. of water weight off my body.

They sent me home and I returned often for followup visits and tests to see if I qualified for a heart transplant. They don't want to give a heart to someone who has other health problems and not be a good candidate for transplant. I passed all the tests and went on the heart transplant list October 2003.

To make a long story short--I improved so much that they took me off the list 2 years later. That does not happen often - when someone is removed from the transplant list. God was with me all the way. I thank God for Loyola, Pastor Jerry Helms, and all the prayers that came from Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.
